From my point of view, CGL’s five Core Values set the standard for the quality of services we provide to our clients.  These five Core Values provide a foundational framework for our interactions with our clients, their stakeholders, and communities. From my perspective, ‘Care About People’ is the central value for this framework – we apply this people-centric approach as we envision, shape, deliver, transition and maintain criminal justice facilities.  Our daily client interactions drive results that ensure health, safety, and security. Through the outcomes we achieve with our clients, we seek to inspire trust, respect, and confidence in our justice system. The remaining four values – ‘Do the Right Thing,’ ‘Strive for Excellence,’ Make it Better,’ and ‘Set Your Own Path’ ensure the achievement of our primary goal – ‘Care About People.’  Together, these five values drive daily decisions that achieve results and collectively shape a culture of collaboration and excellence across our team.

I enjoy the challenge and the achievement at scale. I enjoy bringing order to complexity. Most of all, I enjoy working with – and for – the diverse range of people who depend upon the success of criminal justice facilities – judges, administrators, law enforcement personnel.  I have a strong sense of concern for the housing unit guards and health care providers responsible for daily oversight and care for adult and juvenile residents – we need to equip and position these heroes for success in their mission. I have a substantial amount of empathy for people that find themselves residing in our facilities, and I want our work to support their safe return to a free society. The public expectation for efficiency and economy must also be respected and satisfied. As I reflect on my experience at CGL, I am impressed by the unique and sometimes severe challenges of criminal justice – and I am thankful that we have the cross-functional expertise needed to successfully address these challenges. Based on this experience, I believe CGL is best positioned to balance the multiple competitive demands that are uniquely required in criminal justice facilities by supporting our clients with guidance based on experience and expertise.
