Brian brings nearly 30 years of experience in detention operations and public safety. He previously served as Deputy Chief with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, where he managed day-to-day operations for one of the nation’s largest jail systems and helped advance evidence-based practices to reduce recidivism. He also chaired the Maricopa County Smart Justice (Re-entry) Council, coordinating efforts across multiple justice agencies. At CGL, Brian applies this operational background to help justice agencies evaluate facility performance, improve efficiency, and support sustainable, effective operations that benefit staff, incarcerated individuals, and the broader community.

Get to know Brian

What's your favorite CGL project you've worked on?

In my first few years at CGL, I have enjoyed working on the Salt Lake County master plan project the most as it was the first project I managed from the very beginning. I enjoy the sense and satisfaction I get out of a project when I have the opportunity to see it through from start to finish. Salt Lake County is a great client to work with and they are very forward thinking in their approach to criminal justice planning.

Which core value do you relate to the most?

‘Make It Better.’ This core value is similar to a philosophy I teach to my sons who are both Boy Scouts: ‘Leave it better than you found it.’ When you approach your life’s work this way, it really is a beautiful thing.

If you could pick one superpower - what would it be and why?

I would like the superpower of being able to freeze time at will. This function would allow me to put more thought and strategy in how I approach challenging situations, and it would allow me to catch up on rest when I need it!
