Wake County Detention Center

CGL, as part of the architectural team, initiated and completed the programming phase for the Phase 2 Expansion of Hammond Road Detention Center and to updated the Master Development Plan for the Hammond Road site. The architectural and operational space program defines specific space and area needs and were used to develop alternatives for the schematic design solutions.

The detention center expansion includes 165,000 sq ft of new inmate housing; 92,000 sq ft of administration, magistrate, booking, processing and other program spaces; 70,000 sq ft of inmate services, visitation, infirmary and food service; 25,000 sq ft of forensics laboratories; and 62,600 sq ft of physical plant and warehouse spaces.
