Miami-Dade County New Children’s Courthouse Architectural Program

CGL developed a facility program and development strategy for a new children’s courthouse located in downtown Miami. The architectural program defines the spatial and functional requirements for 18 total courtrooms to meet the 11th Judicial Circuits court system needs through, and beyond, the year 2023.

The Miami-Dade Children’s Courthouse is a modern, safe, and sustainable judicial environment designed specifically for delinquent and neglected children. Although it shares elements of a traditional courthouse, this facility provides a unique environment tailored to children. The size, type and configuration of spaces, as well as the choice of materials are designed to be non-threatening.
