Gallatin County Jail
CGL provided program management services for the project that included a new fully operational detention facility to initially house up to 160 inmates and support services for administration, intake/booking, medical, dietary, laundry, DUI processing and staff areas.
The facility design takes into account the urban features of Bozeman, and the design was managed so the facility fits into the downtown aesthetic. The construction was also managed to not disturb traffic patterns and the day-to-day activities in the downtown area.
CGL’s Value Engineering effort, applied in conjunction with CGL’s criminal justice expertise, saved the County more than $7 million. The first budget estimate came in at $44,974,123; the final project cost was $37,627,909.30 after all contingencies were applied.
CGL limited contractor change orders to $312,000, while adding $832,000 in owner-initiated change orders. The owner’s changes were paid from the savings established in Value Engineering.
