Las Colinas Documentary Highlights Unique Women’s Detention Facility
Every aspect of San Diego County’s Las Colinas Women’s Detention and Reentry Facility, from the landscape, to the interior design, to the programs offered, were chosen to improve the experience of the staff and inmates. The campus-style exterior offers plenty of outdoor space to allow more freedom for the inmates.
On the inside, the facility boasts natural light and bright colors which promotes positive mental health. It’s this use of environmental and behavioral psychology that makes the Las Colinas Women’s Detention and Reentry Facility unlike any other detention center in the U.S.
HMC Architects recently released a short film highlighting the innovative design and impressive features that make this women’s facility so unique. Check it out below.
