Catch Expert April Pottorff at AJFO
Design expert April Pottorff, FAIA has been invited to speak at Association for Justice Involved Females and Organizations (AJFO) 2019 Conference.
Titled, “Designing Gender-Specific Programs, Treatments, and Facilities for Women,” the presentation will evaluate the differences that exist between the needs of female and male inmates in justice facilities, covering topics such as the normalization of spaces, gender-specific housing solutions, the importance of daylight and inclusion of artwork in common spaces, and many others.
Joining April will be expert panelists Elizabeth Falcon, Chief Executive Officer and Founding Partner of Falcon Correctional and Community Services, Inc. and Elias Diggins, Chief of Operations for the Denver Sheriff Department and current President of the American Jail Association.

AJFO is the only professional conference focused exclusively on women and girls involved with the criminal justice system. Participants represent a diverse array of practitioners, state administrators, program directors, women with lived experience, advocates, researchers, and program developers, and experts in reentry, incarceration, juvenile justice, trauma and gender.
Hosted by the Georgia Department of Corrections and Alabama Department of Corrections, this year’s AJFO Conference follows the theme “Dignity: Voices of Strength and Transformation.” The event focuses on trending topics relating to justice-involved women and provides networking opportunities for those working with female offenders. The conference will be held December 8-11 at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center in Midtown Atlanta.
